Creation of the PRIME network for research, development and innovation: For a reduction of drug inputs in livestock

May 2, 2022 press release: INRAE, MIXSCIENCE, PHILEO and OLMIX have had fruitful partnership relationships for several years around topics of mutual interest to improve livestock health. In addition, bilateral framework agreements were signed between INRAEand AVRIL, LESAFFRE INTERNATIONAL and OLMIX with the aim of consolidating their collaborations in the areas of nutrition, animal health and the environment, with the common objective of developing sustainable agriculture. and economically viable systems.

The PRIME network – For a Reduction of Medicinal Inputs in Livestock – will aim to gather means and resources in research projects, as well as information, during scientific and technical seminars to propose adequate research. It will also make it possible to build a common response to calls for regional, national and European projects. Lasting four years, it will be led by a governance composed of a steering committee and a common operational unit. The network partners’ commitment has already materialized this year with the establishment, with their own resources, of a collaborative project with researchers from UMR BOA and ISP in the Val de Loire center that aims to identify non-invasive digestive health biomarkers to quantify the robustness of broilers and allow the evaluation of nutritional strategies as alternatives to reduce the use of antibiotics in poultry.
